Profile

I received my Bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics and my master in Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition, both from the university Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France.

During my PhD I worked on the application of machine learning techniques (Bayesian Networks) in the field of XML Information Retrieval. I also worked on the development of new evaluation metrics for XML search engines.

I was deeply involved in INEX (The Initiative for the Evaluation of XML Retrieval) and since 2004 I am one of the official organisers.

After my PhD, I worked in the University de Chile on XML databases (XQuery evaluation) and on data mining (web log mining and automatic term hierarchies).

In Yahoo! Research, I focus on web log mining for web search personalization and on query sophistication. My major interests are Machine Learning, Information Retrieval and XML.
