Launched in March 2008, Yahoo! Research Bangalore has a mission of bringing research and innovation to Yahoo!’s broad range of Internet products and services. The focus of the lab is on basic and applied research in the key areas of next-generation search, advertising, and large-scale computing systems.

• Search: Image and video search, duplicate detection, Web page clustering, classification and ranking, automated information extraction from Web pages, and Web data integration.
• Advertising: Ad matching and ranking, inventory modeling, automated screening of ads, and computing ad quality scores.
• Cloud Computing: Dynamic resource allocation and virtualization on grids, data center power efficiency, load balancing, and fault-tolerance.
