The annual European Conference on Information Retrieval (ECIR) is the major European forum for the presentation of new research results in the broad field of Information Retrieval.

The 30th European Conference on Information Retrieval will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, 30th March - 3rd April 2008, organised by the University of Glasgow, in cooperation with the University of Strathclyde, supported by BCS IRSG and ACM SIGIR.

Yahoo! Research is a sponsor of the awards event. Yahoo! Researcher Hugo Zaragoza is a co-organizer for the workshop - Exploiting Semantic Annotations in Information Retrieval (http://www.yr-bcn.es/esair08 and will present "Trying to Find Answers to Complex Questions" on Industry Day, April 3, 2008. Vassilis Plachouras serves as the Workshop/Tutorial Chair and Benjamin Piwowarski, Carlos Castillo, Donald Metzler, Georges Dupret, Gilad Mishne, Jan Pedersen, Ricardo Baeza-Yates and Vanessa Murdock are members of the program committee.
